Art Yarn: Beautiful in form & function

We think laterally when it comes to yarn design.

Yarn maker & fibre artist Michelle Snowdon crafts & sculpts award-winning skeins of yarn, each with unique personality, beauty & fine craftsmanship.

Fresh, inspiring Art Yarn designs may be used as a textile medium for knitting, crochet or weaving, and also as a sculptural object to wear or display as a centerpiece in a vase on your table.

Create your next spin or felt project with quality art fibres & be inspired!

Unique garments, accessories & interior decor are excellent applications for Art Yarn.

Take a macro view:

The yarn will reveal it's best application, if you take the time to look closely at it.

When you consider working with Art Yarn, look closely at the thread. Within every inch of yarn there may be a beautiful textural element that could be emphasized, for example, by inserting yarn-overs when knitting large textural elements.

Let the process of working with the yarn reveal the outcome.

Our Materials & Methods:

Hand-prepared fibers give a vibrant, artistic energy to our textile products.

Wooldancer uses eco-friendly fibers, organic merino, farm-fresh fleece, tussah peace silk & millend reclaimed fibers in our products. Recycled silk fabrics, ecclectic materials & fun objects feature in our Art Yarn & fiberArt batts for creative spinning & felting enthusiasts.

Unique manifesto:

Art Yarn & fiberArt batts are truly one of a kind. The central nature of our process is in accentuating handcrafted artistic quality. Our products are created with finely tuned skill emanating in the high quality of our produce.

Some yarn designs may be re-enacted. Please enquire as to whether we can re-create a yarn of your liking.

Hand-dyeing:

Hand dyed colours are by nature "living" and therefore will not be identical, even within the batch. Colourways vary on different fiber-types.

Natural vegetable dyes without harsh mordants, non-toxic food-grade dyes, or lightfast/washfast acid dyes are used for wool. Plant fibers are dyed with natural vegetable dyes or washfast fiber-reactive professional dyes.

We use wise water-management dye methods, and dispose of minimal waste particles thoughtfully.

Enjoy wooldancing!
